Ostmann Hirschhornsalz is a powerful raising agent with a distinctive flavor that develops its leavening effect at oven temperatures above 60°C. It is typically used with potash for flat baked goods. Directions: Dissolve 1 teaspoon of Ostmann ammonium hydroxide in 1 tablespoon of water and add to the flour.
